August 16, 2023 — OWOX BI Streaming. Refining Unique user calculation logic in the Hit-based streaming

Streaming updates.png

In OWOX BI, you can gather user behavior data from your website in two ways: event-based (similar to Google Analytics 4) and hit-based (like Google Analytics Universal). These options give you the flexibility to meet different analytical needs.

With this update, we've focused on aligning the calculation logic across these two methods. This means we've created a unified, accurate, and reliable approach to how data is processed, ensuring a consistent experience for all users.

What's changing for hit-based streaming

Previous logic: Unique users were calculated based on the userId and/or clientId fields within the OWOX BI Project ID.

Current logic: Unique users are calculated based on the userId and/or clientId fields within the OWOX BI Streaming ID.

This refined calculation approach enhances accuracy and consistency. Now both types of OWOX BI Streamings have the same calculation logic. Read more in the Terms of Usage with calculation examples.

Who's affected

This update could potentially impact OWOX BI projects that have two or more active hit-based streamings.

When will the changes apply

Beginning September 1st, 2023, we will activate the enhanced calculation logic changes across all OWOX BI accounts. Invoices for September will be received in October, aligning with the updated logic for calculating unique users in hit-based streaming.
