June 27, 2023 — Workspace. Show dependencies between Transformations on the Workspace diagram

We have recently added a new feature called 'Dependency Triggers' to our Transformation product. This feature empowers you to define dependencies between Transformations, granting you control over their execution by considering the successful completion of other Transformations, in addition to time-based triggers.

Today, we are excited to announce that these dependency connections are now displayed in the diagram on the Workspace page, making it even more valuable for our users. This new feature enables data analysts to create sequential data processing workflows using a streamlined and visual approach. It simplifies the process of preparing data specifically for building marketing reports.

How it works

For instance, let's create four custom Transformations that need to be executed in a specific sequence. To add more complexity, let's configure the third Transformation to run only after the successful completion of the first and second Transformations. To establish this dependency, we will employ Dependency triggers within each Transformation.

The resulting diagram will display the following structure:

Subsequently, we will incorporate SQL code within each Transformation to process the data. This will lead to the appearance of Data storage nodes on the diagram.

Of course, this example can be expanded infinitely by incorporating Pipelines and Streaming into the workflow.
