We are excited to announce a new feature in OWOX BI Transformation that will make building Transformations using partitioned tables even faster and more efficient.
Previously, to create Transformations with partitioned tables in BigQuery, you had to create the table in advance and set up its partitioning in the BigQuery interface. This may not be convenient, especially for those who are not familiar with the BigQuery interface.
With the new feature, you can now create Transformations using partitioned tables in the easiest way. This option can be specified directly in the OWOX BI interface in the Destination table settings. To do this, you need to open the Advanced table options and turn on the “Partitioned by field” toggle switch and specify the field name for partitioning.
It is important to note that this field must be of type “DATE”, “DATETIME”, or “TIMESTAMP”. Additionally, the table will be created with the "by days" partitioning type by default.
If your Transformation uses an already created table with partitioning, then you do not need to specify this option in the OWOX BI interface because the table has already been created. This option is important specifically for cases when the table does not exist at the moment of the Transformation start.
