Introducing Shortcuts in OWOX BI

In this guide, we'll explore how to create, customize, and seamlessly integrate them into your data processing flow.

What are Shortcuts?

Shortcuts are essential tools within your OWOX BI project that empower you to provide context and descriptions for data residing or utilized in external resources. These nifty additions bridge the information gap in your data processing flow, shedding light on the origins of external data entering OWOX BI and the use of analytics-ready data for reports and dashboards beyond the OWOX BI platform.

Availability across OWOX BI projects

Regardless of your subscription level, Shortcuts are at your disposal across all OWOX BI projects.

Creating and setting up Shortcuts

Just like Pipelines, Streaming, or Transformations, crafting and setting up a Shortcut is a breeze. Navigate to the Workspace page, hit the "New..." button, and craft your Shortcut. We'll dive into the types of Shortcuts shortly.

Locating your Shortcuts

Your created Shortcuts are easily accessible within the Workspace. They're presented in both list and diagram formats, offering a clear overview of your data ecosystem.

Shortcuts vs. Pipelines, Streaming, and Transformations

Unlike Pipelines (data import), Streaming (data streaming), and Transformations (data querying), Shortcuts don't manipulate data. Instead, they serve as repositories for user-specific information, fostering connections within the OWOX BI project.

Customization options

Shortcuts offer several customization options.

Categories

Choose from default categories like Data provider or Visualization shortcuts to categorize your Shortcut.

  • Data provider shortcut. This type of Shortcut holds information about data collected from external sources. It's integrated into OWOX BI for processing and generating marketing reports. For instance, it could include CRM data like orders taken from CRM systems and placed into Google BigQuery for eventual data transformation. Relations

Connect Shortcuts with other OWOX BI project entities to showcase accurate data processing flow logic. Shortcuts are exclusively compatible with BigQuery tables.

  • Data provider shortcuts serve as input for the table and connect with the table on the left.
