Supported cost data sources (CostData_ tables)

OWOX BI supports two schemes of the cost data import via the Google Analytics Cost Data → Google BigQuery pipeline. Below, we will describe each scheme in detail.

The GA_NATIVE_PLUS_GBQ scheme is used by default in pipelines created from February 12, 2021.

GA_NATIVE_PLUS_GBQ

Under this scheme, the Google Analytics Cost Data → Google BigQuery pipeline imports the next data:

  • Google Ads costs collected to the connected Google Analytics property via the native Google integration.
Note, if you tag your Google Ads campaigns manually, make sure you define source and medium as follows: "source = google", "medium ≠ organic". Otherwise, Google Ads costs won't be imported to Google BigQuery.
  • Cost data collected to Google BigQuery via the Ad platforms → Google BigQuery pipelines.
Note, to import cost data into the CostData_ tables, you should connect the required Ad platform → Google BigQuery pipelines with your Google Analytics Cost Data → Google BigQuery pipeline. Find the instructions here.

OWOX BI automatically updates the imported data if it changes in your ad account. Learn more about data actualization from this article.

ImportantThe Ads_CostData table is an interim system table for costs imported from advertising services to Google BigQuery before they are merged with Google Ads data in the CostData_ table.
The Ads_CostData table is used only by OWOX BI for service purposes and is not for general customer use.

GA_ONLY

Under this scheme, the Google Analytics Cost Data → Google BigQuery pipeline imports the following data:

Note that the adSource, campaignId, campaignName, adGroupId, adGroupName, and adAccount fields will contain NULL for all the imported ad costs.

Which scheme does my pipeline use?Navigate to your pipeline page and check the settings. If you see the Connected ad cost data pipelines section there, then your pipeline uses the GA_NATIVE_PLUS_GBQ. Otherwise, it uses GA_ONLY. connected_en.png
