The "Google Ads → Google BigQuery" pipeline is a powerful tool that allows you to seamlessly import data from Google Ads to Google BigQuery. When setting up the pipeline, you'll need to configure essential settings, such as access to the data source and the destination BigQuery dataset. Once activated, the data import begins automatically.
However, there may be situations where you need to adjust some of the pipeline's settings. Let's explore two common scenarios.
Updating Imported Tables
To update the list of imported tables in your pipeline:
- Navigate to the Settings tab in your pipeline page.
- Click on the Imported tables and fields section.
- In the dialog that appears, you will see a list of the currently imported tables. You can check or uncheck the tables you need from the list.
- Click Save to apply the changes to your pipeline settings.
Selecting a New Table for Import
When you add a new table for import, it will be created in BigQuery immediately after saving the settings. With each next pipeline run, new data will be added to the table, and existing data will be updated.
If you need to import data into this new table for a specific historical period, you can do so by manually running the pipeline. Select the desired historical period as described in this instruction.
Unselecting an Already Imported Table
If you unselect a table from the list, the data import for that table will stop. The table will remain in your BigQuery dataset, along with the data it contains. If you no longer need to store this data, you can manually delete the table from BigQuery. The pipeline will continue to operate normally, but no further operations will be performed on the unselected table.
Changing Source and Destination Settings and Refresh window
If you need to change the source access (your Google Ads account), the destination dataset, or the refresh window, you'll need to delete the existing pipeline and create a new one with the desired settings.
Step 1. To delete the existing pipeline:
- Click on the "..." icon next to the pipeline.
- Select the "Delete pipeline" option.
Step 2. To create a new pipeline with the updated settings, follow this instruction.
Done! You’ve successfully updated the settings in the "Google Ads → Google BigQuery" pipeline. Always remember to delete the existing pipeline before setting up a new one to ensure everything works smoothly.
